Phase One of J.R. Martin Park Upgrade Underway

Construction is progressing on a major enhancement to J.R. Martin Park, adding a dedicated event space and food truck area expected to be ready for summer 2026.

Construction is well underway on the first phase of a significant upgrade to J.R. Martin Park, Republic's beloved community gathering space at 300 E. Hines Street.

The project, which broke ground in November 2025, will add a purpose-built event space and a dedicated food truck area to the park's existing amenities. City officials are targeting completion in time for the summer 2026 season — including the annual Have-A-Blast Patriotic Celebration, which draws thousands of residents each year.

The Amp, Republic's outdoor amphitheater located within the park, will remain operational throughout construction. The new event infrastructure is designed to complement The Amp's programming and expand the park's capacity for community events, farmers markets, and private gatherings.

Parks & Recreation Director noted that the improvements reflect growing demand for outdoor community spaces in Republic, whose population has grown by more than 20% since 2010.

Future phases of the park upgrade plan are expected to include expanded trail connectivity and additional sports facilities, pending City Council budget approvals.
